Sébastien Bertrand is an early-career professor in sedimentology and paleoclimatology at Ghent University, Belgium. His research focuses on reconstructing past climate and environmental change in southern South America, based on lake and fjord sediment archives. He is particularly interested in understanding the impact of climate change on glacier variability in Patagonia. He currently coordinates several sediment-based research projects in Chilean Patagonia, especially in the Baker river basin and adjacent fjords.
