Bernd Krock has thirty years of doctoral and post-doctoral experience in the field of analytical chemistry and the analysis of organic trace compounds. In the last twenty years specialization on secondary metabolites of plants/algae and ecologically relevant signaling compounds. In the recent years he has focused on the detection of algal toxins, including development of new detection techniques, implementation of advanced LC-MS/MS methods on-board ship and search and discovery of new algal toxins as well as their producing organisms. Currently he is working as a senior scientist at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute, Bremerhaven, in the section “Ecological Chemistry” in the working group “toxic marine protists”.
